A retired top cop is criticizing the NYPD’S move to punish two officers for the fatal shooting of a deranged Brooklyn man.
Disciplining the cops for not hiding behind the bushes to escape the chair-swinging man would be “counter-productive and damaging to morale,” says former Chief of Department Louis Anemone.
Anemone, an expert in the use of deadly force who has investigated countless police shootings during his long NYPD career, said the proper course of action would be retraining Officers Dawn Ortiz and India Archie in tactics.
Archie’s lawyer Eric Sanders said he is considering a lawsuit against the NYPD for its disparate treatment of the two female cops.
